About Kay Kinser

Kay Kinser is an author, researcher, and builder with a habit of following questions wherever they lead.

Her interests have taken her through technology, education, travel, family history, research, and publishing. What connects them is curiosity: wanting to understand how people lived, why places developed as they did, and what can be learned from the records and stories they left behind.

From research to books

Kay’s work has moved across technology, independent education, web development, travel, digital products, and family-history research. Today, those interests come together in the books she creates and publishes.

Her historical fiction explores family, inheritance, place, and the consequences of decisions carried across generations.

Her American history books focus on the practical details of how people lived, worked, traveled, built, and adapted.

Her crime fiction follows documents, photographs, objects, omissions, and conflicting accounts as accepted versions of the past begin to change.

What connects the work

The genres may differ, but the questions often overlap.

What was recorded? What was left out? Who shaped the story that survived? And what changes when someone looks again?

Those questions run through The Door Beneath the Mill, Westward Was Women’s Work, The Woman at the Ferry, and the books still to come.

Beyond the books

Family-history research has taken Kay to Sweden. Travel has strengthened her interest in the relationship between history and place. Technology continues to shape how she researches, creates, and publishes.

She lives in Texas and remains, above all, a lifelong learner following the next interesting question.
